Why you might want to use boring technologies

There are technologies that are over-glorified and overhyped, and there are technologies that get the job done. Sometimes these two are not the same thing.
If you need to solve a technically boring problem, you might be better off using a boring technology instead of whatever is on the front page of Hacker News.
